Please be advised of a Regional Referee Certification Course being hosted by
Titans Water Polo the first week of January. Todd Bealor will be the
Facilitator.
This course is open to individuals born in 1991 or earlier, who have a good
understanding of the FINA rules of water polo. Regionally certified referees are
able to referee any games/scrimmages up to, but not including, the provincial
level (Provincial certification courses are offered annually by Ontario Water
Polo). Once certified, candidates would have a great opportunity to make some
cash refereeing local tournaments and games. Youth and second-year Cadet
athletes, as well as Titans coaches, are encouraged to take this course.
The CLASSROOM session will be Tuesday, January 2, 5-8 pm at Nepean Sportsplex,
in the Water Safety Room (Go into the pool area. Walk down to the shallow end of
the pool as if you were going to the change rooms. Instead of turning into the
changerooms, go down the stairs to the large room, which is the Water Safety
Room. Please- no street shoes on the pool deck).
As well as successfully writing the open book TEST, candidates are required to
have at least two successful PRACTICAL evaluations by the Facilitator in order
to become Regionally Certified. We are offering a number of opportunities for
candidates to complete their practical evaluations :
COST is $50 per person, payable by cheque to Titans Water Polo (fee is waived
for Titans competitive coaches), which can be brought to the classroom session.
Course fee includes classroom and practical training, evaluation, binder of
material and whistle. Pre-registration is requested so we can ensure we have
sufficient course material.
