Titans Water Polo Awarded $153,000 Trillium Grant
Ottawa Titans Water Polo is wealthier by $153,000 after receiving one of the largest sports and recreation grants ever awarded to Ottawa and Ottawa Valley region by the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
“We are really excited,” says club president, Nancy Snihur. “This is a generous grant which will make a huge difference to our club. It enables us to expand our recreational program, and offer water polo to so many more young people.”
The grant, spread over a three-year period, is designated to support the expansion and growth of I Love Water Polo, a co-ed recreational program for young people aged 8-13. It will also be used for the purchase of additional equipment for the club's programs, for camps and clinics to develop skills for players, coaches, referee and volunteers, and to encourage growing interest among youth. Money has also been allocated to purchase equipment to help improve the club's administrative side.

“I am very pleased to see the Titans expanding its recreation program,” says Mr. Coburn. “Having a variety of athletic options around town for our youth makes for healthy and exciting communities.”
The program has already been running for a year at pools in Orleans, Sawmill Creek, St. Laurent and Goulbourn. The Trillium grant means the addition of programs in Pinecrest and Brewer pools this year, two more pools next year, with a further two the year after. By 2004 I Love Water Polo will be running in 10 area pools.
