August 2009
Dear Athletes and Parents,
Welcome back to another great season of water polo. I would like to first start off by thanking each and every Titans family who welcomed my family and me in Ottawa. It’s been a year already and I’ve felt part of the Titans since day one. One more time our club was in the top 2 teams ranked in Canada. Congratulations to all the players and coaches for the excellent performance and great results for the 2008-2009 season. We should all be proud and keep up with the Great Spirit, Hard Work and show once again why we are one of the strongest water polo clubs in Canada.
As you know, I have been appointed this year as the Head Coach of the Club. I have total confidence and I will put all my energy and effort to keep this program successful and keep supporting the LTAD program. David Hart will continue with the club coaching the Academy-ILWP and support with his knowledge, experience, guidance and advice to our club.
This transition means that I will be more involved in all the programs and work closer with our amazing group of coaches. Once again our club will offer a diversity of programs: ILWP; Academy; Recreation House League; Adult Learn-to-play; Adult semi-competitive and Competitive program.
Our Competitive Program will consist of 2 Male and 2 Female training groups, based on, as mentioned before in David Hart’s letter, “technical skills, physical ability, game sense and team play, mental skills, attitude, commitment, potential, coach-ability and team structure”. All groups will follow the same basic curriculum and will be expected to commit to the same number of hours of training. The coaching staff reserves the right to move players from one group to the other depending on how each athlete continues to fulfill the criteria established. The weekly training schedule and player placement will be provided at the time of registration.
Once again Titans will host the 14 & U Titans Cup and the 16 & U Invitational and we will host for the first time the International Invitational Event in January-February 2010 where we will have the chance to play strong foreign teams.
We will continue to support WPC with both Boys and Girls National Training Programs (NDC and NCPC), since I consider very important the exposure of our athletes to the Eyes of the National Coaches.
We must continue to strive for improvements. We have all the necessary tools and we need to continue to support our coaches and players.
Finally we must continue to treat each other with dignity and respect and always remember that what we do at the pool is not ordinary – but rather extraordinary.
This year promises to be another great one. Let’s all make it fun!!!
Look forward to seeing you at the pool.
Good luck and GO TITANS!!!!
