OWPL- Titans Great White Sharks Playing in Gold Medal Game December 8

Come out and cheer on the Titans, Monday, December 8, 7;30pm at Carleton University Pool, as the Great White Sharks take on the Carleton Ravens for the GOLD medal game of the Ottawa Water Polo League! It should be an exciting game, with the Ravens only one point ahead of the Titans in the final standings.


Upcoming Event: Special Presentations to the Membership on Coaching Modules and Budget Update

Titans Water Polo is pleased to be able to provide two updates to the membership on, both being held on Saturday, December 13, at the University of Ottawa, Montpetit Hall (the pool building), room 201.

1-2pm- Presentation by Head Coach David Hart on the status  of coaching modules and materials that he has been working on as part of a 3-year plan. Have a look at some of the documents that are already in use by our coaches, as well as demonstrations of videos produced to date.

 2-3pm- Treasurer Damian Laflamme will be presenting on the 2007-2008 audited Financial Statements, the new-format of the 2008-2009 approved budget, and the first quarter forecast.

In both cases, there will be presentations, followed by the opportunity to ask questions. See you there!


Reminder of Team Ontario Deadline

The Team Ontario and Summer Centralization program plans have been announced. Eligible birth years for potential team members are 1992 and 1993 (younger, exceptionally skilled mature players are encouraged to apply, as are players born in 1991 who will not be travelling with the 2009 national 18U team). Applications are due to the Ontario Water Polo office by 5pm on Friday, December 5, and $300 deposit cheques by December 12. Note the new mailing address for OWP. The Team Ontario program is also looking for short-term head coaches, regional coaches and regional managers. Information can be found at the above weblink.


Reminder of Quest for Gold Athlete Assistance Program Deadline

The Quest for Gold athlete assistance program for water polo has been announced by Ontario Water Polo. Application procedure, criteria and timelines are available here: http://www.ontariowaterpolo.ca/ShowNews239.aspx .

This program is funded by the Province of Ontario, through the Ministry of Health Promotion. The program will provide direct financial assistance to Ontario athletes through an 'Ontario Card' designation, based on demonstrated commitment to high performance sport, allowing them to pursue athletic excellence at the highest levels of national and international competition.

Athletes must be born in the years 1988 to 1995.

Athletes that are active in any of the High Performance programs listed below will be eligible for Ontario Cards:

Þ     Athletes that are selected and currently active in the Golden Horseshoe or Nations Capital Performance Centre programs.

Þ     Athletes that are Selected and currently active in the 2008 Team Ontario fall/winter program (note that selection has not yet occurred yet).

Þ     Athletes that were Selected and active in the 2008 Team Ontario summer program

Þ     Athletes that were Selected and Active in the 2008 Ontario Summer Games.

Þ     Athletes that will fully participate in the Team Ontario Summer 2009 programs

Þ     Athletes that were Selected and Active in the summer of 2008 National Junior (1991+) or Senior Development team programs and will remain active with the National teams during the 2008-2009 program year.
