Update on Women's Competitive Program Head
Coach
From Paul Massel, Titans Competitive
Director
As you will recall the club advertised for position of Women's Competitive
Program Head Coach in late June. We received three applications for
this position. One of the applicants was from out of country and
because of work visa and immigration issues we decided not to proceed
further with this applicant. A selection committee involving the
Competitive Director, the Head Coach and a third member of the executive who
was new to the competitive program was set up and has recently concluded
interviewing the two remaining applicants. Based on those interviews,
the selection committee came to a unanimous decision to offer the position
to one of those two candidates. We are now in the process of agreeing
to terms and conditions of employment and hope to have reached an agreement
with the winning applicant and be in a position to introduce him/her to the
club by the end of next week.
Bring a Friend To Try Water Polo Mini
Tournament
This Saturday July 26th – 11am – 12 noon
– Genest Pool Outdoor Tournament
We need at least 15 TITAN players to bring a friend to try out water polo on
Saturday July 26th from 11am-12noon at Genest Pool at
43 Ste-Cécile, Ottawa. This is a FREE event as part of this summer's
recruitment drive. Ideally, the guests that players bring will be aged 14
years or younger and have no previous water polo experience. So, please ask
your cousins, brothers, sisters, neighbours, or friends to come and try our
awesome sport in a relaxed friendly atmosphere. We will be playing short
scrimmages and swimmers should be competent enough to swim 2 lengths without
stopping. Please let Jen Hampton know if you are coming and how many guests
will be accompanying you by e-mail at
franki006@hotmail.com
Attention
Parents of Manta Rays and Tiger Sharks
NEW for the upcoming season! Titans Mens Head Coach Jerry
Tesanovic has initiated an Ottawa Water Polo League (AA
level) that will involve both the Manta Rays and Tiger Sharks
teams, as well as Hull, Ravens/ Gee Gees combined and Titans Adult
program teams. The Titans are taking lead role in organizing this league in
order to ensure that our AA athletes have some local competition available
to them. The OWPL-AA will run from October to April/ May, with breaks for
holidays and exams. We already have a sponsor in place to provide medals and
trophies. A budget and program plan have been proposed and we are in final
organizing stages.
We
require a volunteer parent
coordinator to assist with game scheduling and communication with the
other teams. Can you help? We can only make this league happen as proposed
if we have some parent help! Please contact Titans General Manager at
INFO@titanswaterpolo.ca.
