Announcement of Titans Women's Competitive Program Coach
 
Titans Water Polo is thrilled to announce the hiring of Celso Rojas as the new Titans' Womens Competitive Program Coach, responsible for the girls 18+U and 16+U AAA and AA competitive programs.

Celso is one of Canada's most experienced and respected coaches. He has both national and international experience as a player and coach in Peru, USA and Canada. Celso has left a major positive imprint in British Columbia through his highly dedicated work over the past several years with the Pacific Storm program; having achieved many accolades for his team's performances at numerous Provincial and National championships.

While many of our athletes and parents will have seen Celso on deck at various competitions, some will also remember him from last year as he worked as the feature Guest Coach at the Titans Summer Camp in 2007. Celso was very highly received by all the athletes in attendance at our camp. His vision is consistent with the Titans long term plans and he brings to the pool strong values, a collaborative approach and a deep concern for his athletes.

Also joining Titans will be his son Rodrigo and his daughter Veronica who will be great additions to the Titans competitive program this year. His wife Tatiana and youngest daugther Valeria are also pleased to be moving to Ottawa.

On behalf of the entire Titans community a very warm welcome is extended to Celso and his family.


Junior Pan Am Games

Here is a link to the Junior Pan Am Games happening in Brazil. It's in Portugese, but it's fairly easy to decipher. The site includes photos, comments, score sheets and historical information. It is updated within 30 minutes of every game, so is very current. Congratulations to John Conway, who, along with Edgardo Montez from Hull, have been named co-captains of the men's Canadian team.

There are regular news updates being posted to the Water Polo Canada website at www.waterpolo.ca for the Men's and Women's Junior National Teams, both of which have Titans athletes playing on the teams.  Congratulations to the Women's Junior National Team who have finished first in the round robin portion of the tournament, and the Men's team for their sound win against Venezuela.
 

Minor Official Volunteers Needed for Ontario Summer Games

Please see the sign up below for volunteers during the Ontario Summer Games held in Ottawa August 12-15th, 2008. We need minor officials of all kinds. You can either fill in the chart below (just forward to my email address and fill in on the lines provided) or email me directly at jonessue@rogers.com and let me know the times and games you would like to volunteer (I will confirm with you before adding to the chart).

If you are simply volunteering as a minor official, you do NOT need to register as a volunteer on the Ontario Summer Games (OSG) website, do NOT need a valid police check and do NOT need to do OSG training.  You do need to know how to do your minor officials job (many of us have done it before at tournaments or house league) as there is no minor officials training.  Simply email Sue Jones as specified above.

If you are volunteering for any other job at the OSG (including chaperone/ team manager) then you need to register as a volunteer on the OSG website. Please click this link http://www.2008osg.ca/volunteer.html and "sign up". You will then receive an email from Britany Gordon with the Police Records Check you will need to have done. There is no fee for the records check. Please note, on the website, the times and dates for a quick training session that you will need to attend.
