Board Members and Volunteers Needed for 2008-2009 Season!

Consider joining our leadership team by sitting on our Board of Directors next season.  We need a number of people to fill Board roles. Time commitment varies depending on what role you would fill. Our AGM is coming up on June 14, and we would like to have a few new names on our slate of officers to ensure succession planning for our organization. We all have busy lives, but not--for-profit organizations like ours DEPEND on volunteers to make excellence happen, and we ask that you consider a role.

Volunteers are also needed to fill roles such as tournament chairs, banquet chair, media and communications committee members, writers for community papers, design of brochures/ flyers, fundraising (both athlete and major fundraising), research for potential registration database software, working on summer promotional events...... the list goes on! We can find a good fit that suits your skills, interest and available time.

Contact Titans President Jean-Philipe Caron at jutras.caron@sympatico.ca  or General Manager Deanna Barry at INFO@titanswaterpolo.ca or 613-741-1224 to express interest and discuss options. We would like to have a summary of your skills and experience, either in the body of an e-mail, or as an attachment to an e-mail.  For Board positions, we would appreciate hearing from you by June 10.

Junior National Team Centralization Camp
Submitted by Sharon Lapins

Three of our female athletes, Evie Marshall, Rebekka Steenkamer and Maria Lapins, will be traveling to Montreal on the weekend of June 14th to begin centralization training as part of the top 18 athletes vying for a spot on the Junior National Team.  The final selection of 13 athletes will then head to Brazil to take part in the Junior Pan American Championships in July.  It is important that our Canadian athletes place in the top three (or four depending on who the host of the World Championship ends up being) at Junior Pan Ams in order to qualify for the World Championships that will be held in 2009.  It is, therefore, critical that our girls have a strong performance this July.

Best of luck to Evie, Rebekka and Maria in their accomplishments to date and wishing them all the best in Montreal in their quest for Brazil!  We all recognize the hard work and dedication that it took for these young women to achieve this level of water polo!

Congratulations, girls, we are very proud Titans!
