Banquet Volunteers Needed

We had such a great time last year at the Centurion Conference and Event Centre on Fallowfield Road, that we've booked it again. Athletes and families, please pencil in the evening of Thursday, June 5 for the 2008 Titans Annual Awards Banquet. In order to be able to put on an event like this, we need some volunteers, to help in the areas of ticket preparation and sales, silent and live auction, program, etc. This is a fun event to work on, and the tasks can be done at your convenience. Most of the communication is by e-mail. Please contact Deanna Barry at INFO@titanswaterpolo.ca if you can help out, even in a small way. Many hands will make the jobs lighter!

Volunteer Coordinator Needed for 14+U Boys and Girls Provincials
(hosted by the Titans Water Polo on May 23-25 at Nepean Sportsplex)

Academy Parents: we need a Volunteer Coordinator. This person is responsible for scheduling parents into game clock, shot clock and game secretary timeslots for each of the games (schedule is determined by Ontario Water Polo). Can you help? Big thanks to Jo Patterson, who has already agreed to chair this event, and Valerie Walker, who will take care of the Hospitality Room Coordination. Please contact Deanna Barry at INFO@titanswaterpolo.ca to volunteer for this key job.

Summer Stay In Shape Parent Coordinator Needed

The Titans offer a Stay in Shape program each summer to registered athletes. Last year we were able to offer a full-summer pass, a 10-session pass, and a 5-session pass, as an opportunity for athletes to get some summer pool time in. They were structured based on how many athletes showed up each week, and included fitness/ swimming and scrimmages. Pool time has already been confirmed for Sunday and Wednesday evenings for most of June/ July/ August at Nepean Sportsplex Pool.

We need a parent volunteer to act as Coordinator for this program. It involves working with the Titans General Manager to propose a budget to the Board for approval, as well as scheduling/ confirming coaching staff, making up the passes, sending the program information out via Titans e-news, tracking registrations, and holding a registration night (usually the first session). The majority of the work is done by e-mail. Once the program is underway, there is no need to be at the pool, as the coaches will simply ask athletes to see their passes. We will try to ensure a minimal amount of work on the part of the parent volunteer! Simpler is better, in this case. Going on holidays for a couple of weeks? Not to worry, we can cover off for you if there are any inquiries. If you are able to take this on, please contact Deanna Barry at INFO@titanswaterpolo.ca or 613-741-1224.

Chocolate Bar Sales Deadline is March 31

For those families who are participating in the chocolate bar sales campaign, just a reminder that cheques are due by March 31, and if your provincial championships are before this date, then you must have the cheque in prior to that. If you need to contact coordinator Christine Taschereau to find out how to get a cheque to her, she can be reached at alecki@sympatico.ca (note this is a new address). Also, if you have not sold your bars and could pass them to another family, you should reach Christine. Please don't provide us with cash, as it's not fair to our volunteers to be responsible for it. Cheques only, payable to Titans Water Polo.

Fundraising/ Sponsorship Due by Provincial Championships!

A reminder that the $250 fundraising/ sponsorship fees are due by the time the athlete goes to Provincial Championships. If you haven't already done so, please help to make our job easier by contacting us to let us know your plans (i.e. you will have raised "X" dollars through chocolate bar sales and will buyout the remainder by sending a cheque, OR you will buyout the full amount, OR you have a sponsorship cheque coming, etc). Christine Taschereau will eventually provide us with chocolate bar fundraising details, but it might be after your Provincials, so we need to hear from you! It will create a lot of unnecessary extra work if we have to followup with families we haven't heard from.  Contact General Manager Deanna Barry at INFO@titanswaterpolo.ca

Titans Join Edmonton Team for the Alberta Open March 13th - 16th, 2008
Submitted by Sue Sidebottom

This past weekend, Titans Miriam Czarski and Monique Sidebottom joined the Edmonton Tsunami Bantam Girls team and participated in the Alberta Open tournament held in Calgary.  The Tsunami team is part of a new Edmonton club that has seven girls on the team, with one athlete unable to participate on the last day of the tournament, so they asked if our club had any Bantam girls who would like to join their team for the tournament and help them out.  Miriam and Monique were thrilled to accept their invitation and became official team members for the weekend.
