Police Record Checks for Parent Volunteers/
Chaperones
Parents: if there is any chance that you might be
volunteering with our players this season (as a Team Manager, Chaperone, etc)
and you don't already have a valid Police Record Check, we ask that you
complete an application (click here for an application form:
English
or
French).
Your completed application with the supporting documents to Deanna Barry,
General Manager, at your earliest convenience. If you have a police
record check on file with the club which was completed in the last five years,
you do not have to complete another one. Because we have not-for-profit
status, if we send these applications in under Club auspices, we can have the
check done at no cost. The results will be mailed directly to you by Ottawa
Police, and we ask that you provide the original or a photocopy to Deanna once
it's received. Please provide application to Deanna in person,
or mail to Titans Water Polo, Box 210, 1411A Carling Avenue, Ottawa, ON
K1Z 1A7. Deanna can be reached at
INFO@titanswaterpolo.ca
.

Minor Officials Needed
Nick
Forster is looking for volunteers to be minor officials on the weekend of Nov
9-11 for the Ontario vs
Quebec 18+U games in Ottawa. Parents or athletes looking to earn some
volunteer hours for high school are most appreciated. Two or three people
are needed per game (shot clock, game clock, secretary). Experience is
appreciated, but not necessary as instruction will be provided. The game
schedule is shown below. If you are able to help, please contact Nick at
nforster@rogers.com to
let him know which position and time slots you would like to volunteer
for. This would also be a great opportunity for the younger players
to witness some great water polo games at the same time.

Women's Canadian Select League (CSL), Canada's Premier Water
Polo League
Contributed by Sharon Lapins
Three of our Titans' top female athletes (born in '91 and younger), Evie
Marshall, Stephanie Le Saux-Farmer and Maria Lapins, were invited to
participate in the Women's Canadian Select League (CSL) this season being held
in Montreal at the Olympic Stadium. What an amazing opportunity for them
to play with, and against, many of Canada's best Nationally ranked female
water polo athletes such as Rachel Riddel and Krystina Alogbo!
This league has been set up for the purpose of providing high quality games in
preparation for the Olympic Games, World Championships, and other major
International events. Water polo Canada's vision is that, one day, the
CSL will be able to compete with the Italian professional league as well as
other well established European pro leagues for the top ranked female water
polo athletes.
I had the pleasure of watching all of the games this past weekend and I was
impressed by the game speed as well as the lightening fast shooting and the
intensity of play. With the excellent training that the Titans
Water Polo Club provides and the dedication of our athletes, this calibre of
experience will help to prepare these girls both physically and mentally for
the challenges that lie ahead throughout their water polo careers.
A website is being created for the league which will include Evie's,
Stephanie's and Maria's individual and team stats, as well as all player bios,
game recaps, and other information about the league. Stay tuned for the
launch of that website to be completed shortly!
Evie Marshall reports: "The CSL weekend was a great experience,
although a little nerve-wracking at the beginning. I played alongside
and against girls on the senior and junior national teams which was a little
intimidating but the girls on my team were very supportive and helped me
improve a lot. I got positive feedback from the coaches and all in all
it was a good weekend."
Maria Lapins reports: "This past weekend I played in the Canadian
Select League in Montreal. These were some of the most challenging games
I've ever played in. It was pretty cool playing against National level
athletes who I've seen on TV! It was a bit intimidating at first,
because you are walking on the deck and you turn around and you see Krystina
Alogbo, the captain on the National team, walking behind you.
I now have a better appreciation of their skills, and the hard work it took
for them to get to where they are today. Playing against them made me
learn new things and it also gave me an idea of what it takes to get to
that higher level of water polo."
